Here are a few questions that get asked to our coaches that may help everyone as we move through the year
How can I look up my swimmer’s official times?
There are several apps available.
- USA Swimming Data Hub is the official hub of USA Swimming and holds all your child’s times achieved in sanctioned USAS meets.
- Meet Mobile is the real time app that is used by most swim meets to post real time results. It will show you meet results for past meets but most effective on the current meet. It will also display the heat sheet (most of the time) so you don’t have to print it out. There is a small annual fee for this app.
- Swimcloud– All times including USA swimming meets, Summer League Meets, High School meets as well as an opportunity for subscription based for college recruiting
- Team Unify (also knows as GOMotion) – All members of WSY have an account. If you do not have your username and password, please email mike@wsyswim.org
- Tutorial for entering swim meets
- GoMotion app for your electronic device
Swim Meets and Competition
Some parents seem to know everything that’s going on but I’m always having to ask questions?
Swim meets are complicated until you understand the flow. There are a lot of moving parts to understand. Relax and you will be a pro before you know it. One thing that will help is if you read the meet information that is posted on the WSY Team Website here. Registration for all meets is on the Team Unify site here.
USA Swimming Registration (all groups other than Green Group)
USA Swimming membership is required of all swimmers other than WSY swimmers in the Green practice group (AGA). Parents will be directed to USA Swimming to pay for their swimmers’ memberships . Parents of returning swimmers can easily renew their swimmer’s USA Swimming membership through their USA Swimming account. All memberships purchased for the 2024 Registration cycle (last year) will expire on 12/31/24. Premium athlete membership is $90 per season

- After you click the link, it should take you to USA Swimming Online Member Registration site and should say:
What events should I register my swimmer for?
The coaches will add events for your swimmer. You may always add suggestions, but final decision is up to the coaches.
Swim Meet Escrow Account
Each family starts with a $50 positive balance in your account which is paid at the time of your registration. Most competitions (swim meets) have entry fees per event (usually $8-$10/per event). Fees are added to the swimmer’s escrow account after the meet. WSY pays the host club before the meet thus if you entered a meet and “scratch” you will still be charged. We will not charge for “last minute scratches” for swim meets that we (WSY) are hosting.
All swimmers on the competitive team race in at least on competition per month. After the initial $50 gas been depleted from your account, we will charge your credit card on file at the YMCA for all charges in a certain month for swim meets. Credit cards are charged for swim meets on the 5th of each month.
What do I need to bring to a swim meet?
- Swim Meet 101 is here
- A lot of it depends on the venue.
- Goggles and extra goggles. Order goggles here
- Read the meet information that is posted on the WSY Team Website here
- Be sure to pack healthy snacks and drinks for your swimmer. There may be a concession stand for you, but it probably won’t have much to pick from, so pack some food for yourself!
- Your swimmer will need deck clothes and shoes to wear between events to keep their muscles and feet warm.
- They need multiple towels as well.
- The coaches will explain this to the swimmers. You will not be allowed on deck with your swimmer.
